Main activities

The objective is the evaluation and further development of technical safety, mainly for the nuclear power plants and other potentially dangerous technologies. Major activities of current importance are:

• system reliability analyses
• level 1 and level 2 probabilistic safety assesment (PSA):
  • full power PSA
  • low power and shutdown PSA
• PSA applications:
  • risk monitoring
  • optimization of technical specifications (allowed outage times and test intervals)
  • risk based maintenance, etc.
• fire risk analyses
• flood risk analyses
• high energy piping break analysis
• further development of accident management measures, drafting of safety requirements, standards and guides.
